MATSIKO WORLD ORPHAN CHOIR
The Matsiko World Orphan Choir is coming back to Tampa on Tuesday, October 10 at 7 pm. They will perfom a free concert at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 5103 N. Central Avenue. Experience this unique, joyful, multi-media performance with children from Peru, Liberia, India and Nepal.
The International Children’s Network began it’s choir program in 2008 with the first U.S. tour of the Matsiko Children’s Choir. After the choir’s resounding success, the Matsiko World Orphan Choir was created with children from Peru and Liberia, who shared their lives and culture through song and dance. The choir continues annually with new children auditioning and performing every year.
Matsiko is a Ugandan word for “hope”. This word embodies both the children and the songs that they sing. The twenty-six Matsiko children on tour this year absolutely love to share the gift of life, love and hope. Children from 5 to 16 years old perform in full vibrant costumes singing original cultural music. They convey such contagious energy in their dynamic dances. Share an inspiring evening with the Matsiko World Orphan Choir. Proceeds generated by the choir tour and handmade cultural merchandise sales go directly to support the worldwide programs of the International Children’s Network.
